Hi, I’m Brooke 🧹💜

I’m the hands, heart, and usually the broomcorn-covered mess behind Brooke & The Broomstick

By day, I’m a registered nurse

By nights, weekends, and pretty much every spare minute I can steal, you’ll usually find me upstairs in my broom room with twine in my hands, broomcorn on the floor, and some new idea I absolutely have to try

I make each broom by hand here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, using traditional broommaking techniques, hand-dyed broomcorn, and beautiful hardwood handles…many of them gathered right here around home. I especially love the weaving side of broommaking: the caps, twills, patterns, and all the little details that turn a bundle of broomcorn into something completely its own

This little business started because I fell in love with an old craft. Somewhere along the way, it became much more than that.

I love the idea of keeping traditional skills alive…not tucked away behind glass somewhere, but still being made, used, taught, experimented with, and passed along. I’m forever learning, forever trying something new, and very rarely making the exact same thing twice

And broommaking isn’t my only rabbit hole. 😂 I’m also an Advanced Master Herbalist, a lifelong lover of plants, old remedies, mushrooms, forests, and all the wonderful things growing just outside the door. That side of me has slowly started finding its way into Brooke & The Broomstick too

Most of all, I want this space to feel personal

Not a factory
Not mass-produced
Not perfectly polished

Just one woman in the mountains making beautiful things with her hands and seeing where this whole adventure takes her 💜

A Few Things About Me

  • 🧹 I make every broom myself from start to finish

  • 💜 I’m an RN when I’m not in the broom room

  • 🌿 I’m have an Advanced Master Herbalist Diploma

  • 🍄‍🟫 I will absolutely stop what I’m doing to inspect a mushroom

  • 🪵 I have a serious weakness for a beautiful, crooked piece of wood

  • 🧶 The more complicated the weaving pattern, the happier I am

  • ⛰️ The Blue Ridge Mountains are home…and they inspire a whole lot of what I make

  • ✨ I believe old crafts still have plenty of life left in them
